Fifty Years of Laura!

On December 18, 2008, Laura Faye Kautz Sindberg turns fifty glorious years of age. The purpose of this blog is for her friends and family to virtually gather in cyber space to share stories, photos, and anecdotes about Laura's terrific life thus far.

For this first post, we ask you to reflect on the first time that you met/encountered Laura and your first impressions of her. I first met Laura when I came out of her womb in 1978 -- a meeting that sadly I don't remember too well. My earliest memories of my mom are on the house that we lived in on Bremen street. I remember eating macaroni and cheese, a yellow kitchen, and one time gleefully hiding under my bed while she frantically and fearfully searched every corner for me. One of my favorite early childhood memories is dressing up as Rainbow Brite for Halloween, with this absolutely incredible costume that Laura made for me. It was perfect. I had the puffy boots, the three-dimensional sleeves, and the rainbow-studded belt. It was bad-ass. Because of my mom's tremendous sewing talents, I was the star of the day-care center, a celebrity earned in part because I no longer went to day care but had returned as an alumni to show off my sweet Rainbowland duds. Thanks for always making me great Halloween costumes, Mom! And HAPPY FIFTIETH BIRTHDAY!!!
